Challenges for the customer
- Successful start-up but extremely high cash burn paired with a postponement of some technical milestones
- Due to the postponement of the technical milestones, customers, primarily from industry, the tech environment and automotive, were not yet ready to give LOIs
- Difficulties in successfully completing the challenging fundraising in-time and in-full
Approach & success factors
Starting point was a comprehensive strategic analysis of the performance of the company’s semiconductor developments and its most important competitors. Benchmark KPIs were based on customer criteria. First prototypes enabled customers to carry out their own simulations of the start-up’s performance.
As the simulation results by customers were more than promising and some reference customers were willing to release this data for the fundraising round (under NDA), the foundation for success was laid.
A dedicated approach strategy was used to attract further financial investors, particularly from the US, and existing investors also showed their willingness to make a significant contribution to the round.
Results
- Securing a funding round in the mid double-digit million USD range
- The round was significantly oversubscribed at the end
